Transposon Sequencing Uncovers an Essential Regulatory Function of Phosphoribulokinase for Methylotrophy (Current Biology)

Ochsner et al. use TnSeq to map genomic regions of the model methylotroph Methylobacterium extorquens PA1 that are specifically required during growth on methanol. They identify almost 100 new methylotrophy genes, including the Calvin cycle enzyme phosphoribulokinase, showing that it plays an unprecedented regulatory role for carbon assimilation.
