Oxytocin Transforms Firing Mode of CA2 Hippocampal Neurons (Neuron)

Tirko et al. show that activation of oxytocin receptors drives pyramidal cells in hippocampal area CA2 to fire bursts. They deconstruct the cellular mechanism, oxytocin receptor-driven modulation of K+, and spike-generating currents and reveal the circuit consequences for neurotransmission to CA1.
