Neighbor Diversity Regulates the Productivity of Coral Assemblages (Current Biology)

McWilliam et al. identify a positive effect of diversity on coral assemblage productivity. Increases in productivity in diverse assemblages were driven by facilitative interactions among neighbor colonies, which occurred primarily at high water flow. Shifts in the diversity and identity of neighbors can therefore alter coral community functioning.
