Mitochondrial Dynamics Is Critical for the Full Pluripotency and Embryonic Developmental Potential of Pluripotent Stem Cells (Cell Metabolism)

Evidence has pointed to the importance of mitochondrial dynamics in regulating stem cell function and developmental potential. Zhong et al. now demonstrate that balanced mitochondrial dynamics are essential for the full pluripotency and embryonic developmental potential of stem cells, through a mechanism that maintains Ca2+/CaMKII homeostasis and stabilizes ?-Catenin protein.
