Beyond factors intrinsic to cancer cells, the surrounding tumor microenvironment plays an instrumental role in influencing both disease biology and response to therapy [1]. Cancer development and progression probably rely on interplay between the two, and biological characterization of this complex interaction has been the focus of many contemporary efforts, including those in prostate cancer (PC).
