Learning a Spatial Task by Trial and Error in Drosophila (Current Biology)

Stern et al. show that flies can solve a simple spatial task where closed-loop stimulation of an ensemble of neurons is available as strong reward at a specific location. The ensemble includes both DA and ChAT populations. Learning occurs fast, is robust at single-animal level, can be improved by non-visual cues, and requires functional MB and CX.
