Environmental Programming of Adult Foraging Behavior in C. elegans (Current Biology)

Pradhan et al. show that early-life starvation causes permanent changes in adult foraging behavior, in which individuals become less exploratory. This is associated with changes in search strategies and altered dynamics in a core navigation circuit. Different genetic loci control innate foraging level and plasticity in this trait between strains.
