Protein glycation by glyoxal promotes amyloid formation by islet amyloid polypeptide (Biophysical Journal)

Our investigation aims to provide a general model for IAPP amyloid formation under hyperglycemia. In this study, we prove that protein glycation would change the amyloidogenicity of IAPP and expedite the process of IAPP aggregation. Glycated IAPP also exhibits its cytotoxicity.
