The Functional Organization of Cortical and Thalamic Inputs onto Five Types of Striatal Neurons Is Determined by Source and Target Cell Identities (Cell Reports)

Johansson and Silberberg map the organization of cortico- and thalamostriatal inputs onto five types of striatal neurons in terms of synaptic strength, short-term plasticity, and receptor composition. They find that the synaptic properties of 20 pathways are determined by both presynaptic region and postsynaptic cell type.
