Alpha-Band Activity Reveals Spontaneous Representations of Spatial Position in Visual Working Memory (Current Biology)
 


Foster et al. show that human observers spontaneously maintain active neural representations of the spatial positions of memoranda held in visual working memory, even when space is wholly irrelevant to the task. These spatial representations are coded by oscillatory activity in the alpha band (8-12 Hz).
