Dopamine Is Signaled by Mid-frequency Oscillations and Boosts Output Layers Visual Information in Visual Cortex (Current Biology)

Zaldivar et al. investigated how dopamine modulates oscillatory cortical activity. They found that endogenous oscillations in the mid-range [19-38 Hz] band capture dopamine changes and that dopamine enhances the visual information carried by the gamma [50-100 Hz] band in the output cortical layers.
