Type 2 diabetes has long been regarded as lifelong and progressive. Taylor et al. demonstrate that weight loss of over 10 kg results in normalization of ectopic fat within liver and pancreas. This is associated with durable recovery of ? cell function and non-diabetic glucose control in the majority.
