The Thalamostriatal Projections Contribute to the Initiation and Execution of a Sequence of Movements (Neuron)

Diaz-Hernández et al. performed electrophysiological recordings of antidromically photo-identified thalamostriatal neurons and optogenetic inhibition of the thalamostriatal terminals to probe their contribution to the smooth initiation and execution of a sequence of movements. Their data support a model in which different thalamostriatal projections provide differential control of distinct phases of initiating/executing a sequence of movements.
