(p)ppGpp Regulates a Bacterial Nucleosidase by an Allosteric Two-Domain Switch (Molecular Cell)
 


Zhang et al. show that the bacterial alarmone (p)ppGpp allosterically binds and activates a proteobacterial nucleosidase during stringent response, contributing to balanced bacterial fitness and antibiotic tolerance, a mechanism probably conserved in many Proteobacteria.
