The Architecture of Traveling Actin Waves Revealed by Cryo-Electron Tomography (Structure)

To illuminate the nanoscale molecular architecture of native actin waves, Jasnin et al. exploit cryo-focused ion beam sample preparation and in situ cryo-electron tomography with Volta phase plates. They use subtomogram averaging to reveal the 3D structure and organization of Arp2/3 complex-mediated branch junctions within propagating actin waves.
