Chemical Induction of Aminoglycoside Uptake Overcomes Antibiotic Tolerance and Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus (Cell Chemical Biology)

Aminoglycoside efficacy is limited against non-respiring bacterial populations due to deficiencies in uptake. Radlinski et al. show that chemical induction of PMF-independent aminoglycoside uptake with rhamnolipids sensitizes non-respiring populations of S. aureus to aminoglycoside killing, expanding the utility of this important class of antibiotics.
