Connecting Communities and Diversity (Molecular Cell)

This issue of Molecular Cell is focused on the topic of diversity. In thinking about the history of Molecular Cell and reading past editorials, I was struck by what Benjamin Lewin had written to accompany the first issue of the journal in 1997: `Molecular biology is not so much maturing as a field as extending its tentacles into all of modern biology.` As I think about the future of the journal, I`d like to see us bringing together all of the groups that look at their respective fields through the common lens of molecular biology to answer questions about how the cellular processes that matter to them work at a molecular level.
