Adjuvant Versus Salvage Radiotherapy Following Radical Prostatectomy: Meta-analysis of the Effect of Comparator Salvage Approach on Study Conclusions (European Urology)
While early administration of salvage radiotherapy is associated with better outcomes when compared with late salvage therapy for men with biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer following radical prostatectomy [1,2], guidelines have relied on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which the comparator arm received late, and nonsystematically administered, salvage therapy [3] to recommend adjuvant radiotherapy (aRT) [4]. We quantitatively assessed the effect of changing the comparator intervention on the apparent efficacy of aRT.
