Ventral Hippocampal CA1 and CA3 Differentially Mediate Learned Approach-Avoidance Conflict Processing (Current Biology)
 


Relatively little is known about the precise contributions of individual hippocampal subregions to approach-avoidance conflict processing. Using a cue-based paradigm with pharmacological inactivation, Schumacher et al. demonstrate that ventral CA1 and CA3 play opposing roles in learned approach-avoidance conflict behavior.
