Inhibition of Bacterial Gene Transcription with an RpoN-Based Stapled Peptide (Cell Chemical Biology)

The bacterial transcriptional regulator ?54 is involved in the virulence of pathogenic bacteria. Stapled peptides blocking the interaction between ?54 and its target DNA promoter inhibit activation of ?54-dependent genes in bacteria. These compounds provide an avenue to target bacterial pathogens and circumvent therapeutic drug resistance.
