Multi-metal Restriction by Calprotectin Impacts De Novo Flavin Biosynthesis in Acinetobacter baumannii (Cell Chemical Biology)

The host protein calprotectin (CP) inhibits pathogen growth via sequestration of essential transition metals. This work shows that CP influences the homeostasis of multiple metals as well as flavin biosynthesis in Acinetobacter baumannii and identifies potential targets for the development of antibacterial agents in the infected host.
