Simple Acoustic Features Can Explain Phoneme-Based Predictions of Cortical Responses to Speech (Current Biology)
 


Daube et al. use a data-driven information theoretic analysis of auditory cortex MEG responses to speech to demonstrate that complex models of such responses relying on annotated linguistic features can be explained more parsimoniously with simple models relying on the acoustics only.
