Cortical Response to the Natural Speech Envelope Correlates with Neuroimaging Evidence of Cognition in Severe Brain Injury (Current Biology)
 


Braiman et al. measure simultaneous EEG responses to the natural speech envelope in healthy controls and severely brain-injured patients. Latencies of EEG speech envelope responses stratify patients and identify a subgroup of patients capable of carrying out fMRI mental imagery tasks with latencies indistinguishable from those obtained in controls.
