The current outbreak of coronavirus disease COVID-19 is showing up vulnerabilities in many aspects of the globalised world we live in. The suggestion that it may have originated in the endangered pangolin also puts animal trafficking in the spotlight. The human-wildlife interface remains an important risk factor for further disease outbreaks.
