Re: Veeru Kasivisvanathan, Armando Stabile, Joana B. Neves, et al. Magnetic Resonance Imaging-targeted Biopsy Versus Systematic Biopsy in the Detection of Prostate Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. Eur Urol 2019;76:284-303 (European Urology)
Kasivisvanathan et al [1] reviewed the usefulness of magnetic resonance imaging-targeted biopsy (MRI-TB) over systematic biopsy (SB). The authors used the relative detection ratio to compare the ability of the two methods to detect significant prostate cancer. They only included studies with saturation or mapping biopsies that could be used as a reference standard to compare the detection rates. Although they conducted a scientific and thorough review, a few other points have to be considered to better understand the results.
