TNFAIP3 Interacting Protein 3 Overexpression Suppresses Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis by Blocking TAK1 Activation (Cell Metabolism)

Liu et al. identified TNIP3 as a novel and essential negative regulator of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). TNIP3 mitigates NASH by directly interacting with TAK1 to inhibit its activation by TRIM8. This functional mechanism of TNIP3 occurs downstream of metabolic stress but is independent of its normal targeting of TNFAIP3.
